Vigil Book for Naomi bat Avraham

The photo to the right of the embroidered book cover is the 15th century book cover that the inspiration for this project

Materials were: Cotton velvet, linen fabric, silk thread, gold passing thread, gold cord (and a purchased blank book to place inside the cover).

Naomi’s research was on woodcut prints and inks, and she made sets of playing cards to demonstrate this. Thus her book has the four houses of playing cards done in Or Nue, and appliques onto the book cover
Naomi’s arms are in the center and will be surrounded by a Laurel wreath. You can see the 3d nature of the padded heart and club that were appliqued in place.

The underside of the project. The velvet was reinforced with a medium weight linen fabric. The gold embroidery was was completed directly onto the velvet, and the heraldry and the playing card houses were appliqued into place.

I will need to locate the remaining pictures and place them here. I think the above gives a fair idea of the project in the meantime.
